Automatically establish relationships?

    Automatically establish relationships?

    Hello,

I reverse engineered our database.  I have about 160 tables, but no relationships were established.  Is there a way for ModelRight to automatically create the relationships?  Then I can just review and edit the relationships if they are incorrect?

     Thanks, Allison

Unfortunately, ModelRight doesn’t currently automatically infer relationships. It is a feature that it will be eventually implemented in ModelRight but, so far, it has had lower priority than other features.

Hope this won’t stop you from using the product.

    Thanks for the response.

If I manually create all the relationships -- then use the "compare with databases" to update the model -- the relationships will remain - correct?  I want to use this software to model our current database and document it. I don't want to have to re-establish the relationships every time I update the model.

Please confirm that I can just use the "Compare with Database" function. Many thanks.

    Re: Automatically establish relationships?

Yes, as long as you un-check Relationships in the compare filter (i.e. do not compare relationships).

If you ever make a mistake, Undo after compare will undo all compare actions, so you can go back to your previous model state. Also, MR creates a back-up file (wer1 extension).
